My Closet Shoppe, My Love For Thrifting

What is thrifting?

Good question, thrifting is what you make of it. Thrifting for me is buying new or gently used clothing pieces from a store, charity shop, garage sale that exclusively sells used or donated items. This can be your local Goodwill, Salvation Army or Value Village  or any other used clothing store, these stores are all called thrift stores. Essentially thrifting is a verb used to define shopping at any store as described.

Thrifting allows you to express your style.

I love shopping, but shopping for less… ooh, I’m in heaven.

Why do you love thrifting?

To begin, thrifting has been a hobby and pleasure of mine for quiet sometime, it’s almost orgasmic, an intense excitement when you search through racks on racks on racks and find that piece or those pieces that bring you pleasure. Individual fashion style is unique and provides individuality. Thrifting allows you to buy that dress and jean jacket and pair it with your existing shoes and purse and wallah you’ve created an outfit for an affordable price. Thrifting gives you the opportunity to experiment with pieces to define, re-invent or simply to maintain your style.

I’ve been thrifting for about six years now and I absolutely love it. I love it for a couple reasons.

  1. Thrifting gives me the opportunity to express, identify, or define my creative style at an affordable price. I’ve reinvented my style so many times and thrifting has made it easy. From my period of wearing all black, to the time I only wore graphic tees, to the time I went 80’s look levi’s, thrifting has always made it a breeze to maintain these clothing eras.
  2. Thrifting is a way for me to  make extra cash buying and flipping gems found at these thrift sites. As a reseller on Poshmark, I make fun money in my leisure selling clothes. This requires some time but the cash can be beneficial. Check out my closet to see some of itemsI sell on Poshmark.
  3. Thrifting is also a way of being kind to our planet. Just as we recycle cans, bottles and paper, thrifting is also a way to recycle. Buying, selling or donating goods is a great way to help the environment while saving money.
  4.
Thrifting is a great way to save the planet.
Style is personal, its all about what feels right to you.

Dear John, Why?

Dear John, Why…

can’t I understand you, as much as I try?

do you get triggered and shut down, instead of communicating?

do you run, when I chase you?

do you only love me conditionally?

do you leave without saying goodbye?

do you say you love me, but cause so much pain

do you come back after some time

does each time feel like “this time will be different”

do you allow fear and worry, to dominate our happy place

do we keep trying over and over again

dear john, why can’t I move on without you?

Thirsty for love

When you find that person that you want to spend the rest of your life with (or so you think) and it slips away before you can really enjoy it

Here’s my story/dilema

We first saw each other at our kids’ weekend class, for weeks our eyes met, silently inviting each other to speak. The only words they muttered to each other was “hey, how you doing”.

Finally, he approached in the midst of their small talk, they exchanged numbers. Later that night, they met up that date at a local eatery, had a few drinks, great conversation, awesome chemistry. The night was perfect.

He was exactly what I needed, like a glass of room temperature water with a slice of lemon. He was profofessional, appealing, honest, seductive, masculine, affluent, unapologetic, confident, intense, intelligent and appropriate. Like I said exactly what I desired.

For a moment I really thought I met the man of my dreams. A real life Christian Grey, I was ready to be his Anastaisa. As heard in the  lyrics to Adore by Prince , he had my heart.

After several months of consistent “good morning” text, late night extended calls, evening dinners, impromptu meet ups, getting to know each other, being vulnerable, not to mention amazing sex.

Suddenly, it all came to halt, just as my heart was soaked with all these feelings and desires for him. Now I was drenched in tears as I grieved the loss of the Beauty that we created.  However, that creation is also what drove us to ruins. I thought the Universe sent him specifically for me. I thought we had a situation, never thought the state of affairs would be the end to the organic connection we formed over time.

The fantasy was over, though, great while it lasted. Like a hot day on earth, a rainstorm needed to return to drench my body with his love.

Have you ever met the person that you thought you could spend the rest of your life with, things were good, and the relationship ended  suddenly? I would love to hear about it and if you have hope he or she will someday return.
